Djabe (the multi award winning Hungarian representative of jazz/world fusion music) have on this album mainly taken inspiration from the treasures of Hungarian music
Barabás Tamás’s and Égerházi Attila’s compositions were inspired by the paintings of the recently deceased painter, Égerházi Imre. The Great Plain, the Transylvanian scenery, and other motives of Égerházi Imre have been given musical interpretation by the band
Djabe feel they have made their best record to date with "Sheafs Are Dancing" (Hungarian title: Táncolnak a kazlak)
* Sipos András , one of the founders of the band, brings new colourful sounds on percussion
* Banai Szilárd , the young, talented jazz drummer fits more and more maturely into the face of Djabe
* Kovács Zoltán , once again, proves his exceptional music knowledge, this time on acoustic piano instead of synthesizers
* Kovács Ferenc's violin skills shine on this record - his characteristic, Hungarian, "Rustic Baroque" playful vitally determines the style of the CD. He is also great on trumpet, as Archie Sheep claims; "…he plays the trumpet like Miles Davis."
* Besides the excellent bass guitar playing of Barabás Tamás we must also mention his accomplished composing and sound engineering work
Égerházi Attila* was responsible for the overall vision of the group (together with Barabás). His compositions and guitar playing have been fundamental yet again in this 2003 Djabe production.
Djabe invited several guests to perform on "Sheafs Are Dancing". Amongst the outstanding contributors were:
Steve Hackett - His guitar playing on the track 'Reflections of Thiérache' adds an exciting colour to the sound-world of the album ("I think Steve surpassed himself." - Billy Budis wrote)
Ben Castle - A young talented British artist enhances the album with his soprano saxophone. He was previously an important musician in the recording of Djabe's 'UPDATE' and 'Flying' (DVD). On this album he plays on two tracks
The CD is presented and packaged in a deluxe digipack
With this album not only can you "listen to" the 14 paintings, but you can also admire them in the booklet which accompanies it
This album was nominated for the Best Hungarian Jazz Album of the Year
