Missing Links Volume 4: Pathways & Promenades (CD)

Anthony Phillips has an extensive catalogue as a recording artist - along with album releases including The Geese And The Ghost & Wise After The Event, he has to date also released 10 albums in the ‘Private Parts & Pieces’ series and 3 volumes in the ‘Missing Links’ series

In addition, he’s also written and recorded tracks that have only ever been released on compilation albums. Over the years these compilations have gone out of print, yet demand for Anthony's contribution to them remains high

'Back To Bach' was originally released in 1992 and has been unavailable for some time

The album features re-workings of some of Bach's Preludes & Fugues by Julian Colbeck and Jonathan Cohen with contributors including Steve Hackett, Mary Hopkin, and John Keeble

To quote the original sleeve notes....

"BACK TO BACH is designed for active listening and enjoyment. Since these compositions are based upon accurate templates of the fugues and preludes you can accompany the version without Jonathan Cohen, live, yourself. The edition used is Czerny".

This means that most of the tracks are on the album twice - once as just the composed backing (to which you can play the piano part), and once with the piano and backing

Julian Colbeck is a prolific and accomplished musician, writer, music journalist and technical consultant. His career has encompassed everything from touring with the Yes supergroup ABWH and being a member of the band Charlie to writing the definitive biography of Frank Zappa, several best selling guides to the mysteries of modern keyboards and midi, and a book of recipes with world renowned chef Raymond Blanc! He's currently CEO of Keyfax NewMedia

Julian first joined Steve in 1990 for a TV special and since appeared with him on albums including Time Lapse, Guitar Noir and Blues With A Feeling
